FlatironCity was awarded the 2017 Project of the Year by The Urban Land Institute (ULI) Atlanta at the organization’s annual Awards of Excellence. Invest Atlanta supported the renovation of the Flatiron building, Atlanta’s oldest skyscraper, into a next-generation office space.
The project received a $1.5 million Westside TAD investment from Invest Atlanta, as well as a $11.2 million New Markets Tax Credit allocation through Atlanta Emerging Markets, Inc. (AEMI).
“The financing for this project was particularly creative, using various public and private sector financial tools,” one award juror told the Atlanta Business Chronicle. “In addition, this project took an existing Atlanta asset that was a burden in an important location downtown and repurposed it through adaptive reuse into a source of energy and creativity.”
