This affordable housing initiative will provide tax relief to eligible senior homeowners with greater risk of displacement due to rising property taxes.
The City of Atlanta and Invest Atlanta haved launched an anti-displacement program for legacy residents with $10 million of funding from the Centennial Yards Housing Trust Fund. For qualified applicants, the program will pay an increase in taxes above the homeowner’s base taxes, for a period of 20 years, if they continue to qualify for the program.
The 2025 application will be open from May 1st through May 31st, 2025.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be a City of Atlanta homeowner since 2015;
- Be aged 60 or older;
- Have a clear Title/Ownership;
- Have a household income of 60% AMI or below;
- Be actively enrolled in qualifying homestead exemption programs; and
- Go to https://fultonassessor.org/exemption to apply.
- Have no encumbrances attached to the property.
