Bringing Home Best Practices, and a Top Award, From Smart Cities Expo and World Congress

Invest Atlanta's Innovation + Entrepreneurship team attended the Smart Cities Expo and World Congress in Barcelona this November. While there, Noelle London was able to learn best practices from other cities on how best to implement smart cities solutions, shed light on 5 Atlanta-based startups to connect them with global opportunities, and develop partnerships and collaboration with regional partners also working on smart cities programs.

She joined a Georgia delegation consisting of partners from the Metro Atlanta Chamber, City of Atlanta including the Chief Resilience Officer, Southern Company and Georgia Power, Georgia Economic Development, and others.

During the Conference, 360NS, Atlanta-based mobility startup, received the highest International Mobility Award for their work with the North Avenue Corridor testbed for innovative technology. Invest Atlanta continues to support the North Avenue Corridor through facilitating pilots with Mobility Insights and providing other smart tech opportunities.

“This corridor is becoming the most connected one in the state of Georgia, serving as a living lab for active, multi-modal traffic management through technology deployment and data analytics," the award announcement stated. "Smart technology solutions applied here are improving roadway and public safety, mobility and the environment.”

In addition, Invest Atlanta participated in a panel discussion at the USA Pavilion on our AgTech Challenge project that is a part of Invest Atlanta's Demonstration Project program. The IA team was joined on the panel by representatives from the City of Atlanta's Chief Resilience Officer, Southern Company, and the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and the speaking engagement allowed IA to highlight Atlanta's strength in implementation through the use of Invest Atlanta's Demonstration Project.
