The Campbellton Road Small Businesses Renovation Program, a partnership between Wells Fargo, Rebuilding Together Atlanta, the City of Atlanta, and Invest Atlanta has helped to renovate three businesses on Campbellton Road. Applicants had to own or operate a business located on Campbellton Road, earn $200,000 or less in gross annual revenue, and have been in continuous operation since November 1, 2017 to be eligible.
The three recipients of renovation funding were Senegambia Restaurant, Hot Chixx Wings ATL, and Getting Ahead Barbershop.
On Wednesday, March 13, volunteers from the partner organizations volunteered their time to do the painting work that was part of the renovations at Senegambia Restaurant, which serves a variety of West African, Caribbean and American cuisine. Besides new interior painting, the restaurant received new commercial grade cooking equipment, bathroom upgrades, and walk-in cooler repair.
Getting Ahead Barbershop has been able to purchase new barber chairs, dryer/chair combos, fans, and ceiling tiles.
“It’s not just my business, it belongs to the people and the Atlanta community,” said owner Paul Lockhart. “They deserve something nice. Our mission statement is serving and preserving the community.”
The walk-in cooler and freezer outdoor units were replaced at Hot Chixx Wings ATL, allowing them to expand their menu. They also had their indoor cooling units serviced, chairs repairs, and new paint applied to the interior walls.
“I love Campbellton Road for giving my family this chance to realize our passion – food,” said Fostoria Dumas. “The menu has mostly fast food options, but we are planning to add a few healthier choices, once our cooler/freezer are repaired.”
