Investment Services Intern

Support Invest Atlanta‚Äôs programs and partnerships with private investors to finance commercial development and business expansion projects in the City of Atlanta. The Intern will report to the Vice President, Investment Services.  

Primary duties will be to assist in managing funding programs that direct private investment to support the revitalization of neighborhoods and expansion of businesses in Atlanta.  The Intern will assist in reviewing funding requests from businesses and real estate developers, preparing funding recommendations, and monitoring the progress of approved projects. 

This is a paid (hourly) and flexible position, not to exceed 20 hours a week.    

  • Review funding requests from real estate developers and business owners.
  • Compile and maintain data on existing projects.
  • Prepare updates for private investors and funding partners.
  • Research trends in community development funding, foreign investment, innovation and venture capital, and environmental sustainability.
  • Assist in preparing presentation materials for City Council members, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor bank accounts, consulting agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Assist with marketing and communications regarding new projects and programs.
  • Assist with special projects and community outreach as needed.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work well with a wide range of stakeholders, including: business, political and community leaders.
  • Strong interest in and affinity for community redevelopment.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and synthesize data.
  • Strong computer skills; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other software applications, including project management software.
  • Knowledge of community development financing programs such as New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE), or EB-5 foreign investment programs is a plus, but not required.
  • Undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited college or university studying real estate, urban planning, business, finance, environmental studies, public policy, public administration, or related field.
